UK Drivers Invited to Share Views in Nationwide Electric Vehicle Survey

Motorists across the UK are being asked to take part in a new survey on electric vehicles (EVs), giving them the chance to shape the future of road transport.

EVA England has launched its annual Summer Survey, which aims to capture a detailed picture of both the opportunities and challenges surrounding EV ownership and adoption. Participants will also be entered into a prize draw, with five chances to win £100 worth of Octopus Electroverse charging credits.

Unlike previous years, the 2025 survey isn’t limited to current EV owners. Hybrid drivers, petrol and diesel motorists considering the switch, as well as those who believe EVs aren’t yet suitable for their needs, are all encouraged to respond.

The results will be used to inform policymakers, industry stakeholders and the public, supporting efforts to expand charging infrastructure and make electric vehicles more affordable and accessible.

The survey comes at a pivotal time for the UK’s transition to net zero. According to the Climate Change Committee’s latest report to Parliament, EV uptake remains strong, with more than one in five new cars sold now fully electric and new public charge points being installed at a rate of roughly one every 30 minutes.

However, challenges remain — particularly for the 40% of households without driveways, who are unable to install home charging. In a previous EVA England study, 44% of EV drivers said lack of access to private charging was the biggest barrier preventing more people from making the switch.

By inviting views from all drivers, including those yet to adopt EVs, EVA England hopes to uncover the most significant concerns and explore what would make electric driving more appealing.

Vicky Edmonds, chief executive of EVA England, said:

“We’re strongly encouraging all drivers – whether they drive electric, hybrid, petrol or diesel – to take a few moments to tell us what they feel is and isn’t working for them when it comes to electric cars and their supporting infrastructure. These surveys really matter. They help give a voice to drivers and a chance to have their say on some of the important and lasting decisions being made right now for the future of our roads and electric infrastructure.”

The survey is open until Sunday 14 September and should take no more than five minutes to complete.

Stories, not spreadsheets: the sustainability event aimed at the people who keep places running

A new UKGBC leadership event puts communication at the centre of sustainability delivery. For councils and contractors, the lesson is blunt: good engineering still needs a coherent answer to what changes, who benefits, and why the disruption is worth it.

Britain’s roads were built for a climate that no longer exists

Heat lingers longer. Rain arrives harder. And the network itself is older than the weather now testing it. Resilience has stopped being a conference theme and become a maintenance problem.

Thousands of streetlights, one quiet transformation across Warrington and Liverpool

A fresh push on LED streetlights in Warrington and Liverpool points to a quieter kind of road upgrade: less power, lower maintenance and a different night-time streetscape for drivers and residents.

National Highways – 650,000kWh a year: inside the solar retrofit of 16 working highway depots

National Highways has fitted 825kW of solar, 760kWh of battery storage and 18 heat pumps across 16 operational sites, all while maintenance crews kept working. The programme will generate nearly 650,000kWh of renewable electricity annually.
