Miles Macadam has collaborated with Stockport Council to deliver an innovative, carbon-neutral road resurfacing project. Certified by Carbon Footprint Ltd, the scheme supports the council’s ambitious environmental targets by incorporating Miles Macadam’s advanced low-carbon surfacing technology.
As part of the company’s broader sustainability commitment, a tree planting initiative was also undertaken within the borough to symbolise the project’s success and promote continued sustainable development in the local community.
Procured through LCRIG’s Project Amber Framework, the scheme showcases the value of sustainable infrastructure solutions in helping local authorities meet their climate objectives.

For Robins Lane, a heavily tree-lined route, the council selected the Milepave™ solution. This fully sealed surface treatment prevents water penetration, reduces organic material build-up, and improves safety by limiting the development of slippery conditions.
The scheme delivered several key environmental benefits:
- 1,878m² of Milepave™ installed
- 27.2 tonnes less aggregate used
- 3.5 tonnes less bitumen consumed
- 5.40 tCO₂e savings compared to traditional materials
An article published on Stockport Council’s website quoted Cllr Grace Baynham, Cabinet Member for Highways, Parks, and Leisure Services, who stated:

This scheme further demonstrates our dedication to achieving our ambitious climate goals.”
